RECLAIMING THE FORESTS ON HAIDA GWAII BOOK LAUNCH AND PANEL
Come to UVic for a book launch and panel discussing the long-term conflict over Haida Gwaii’s ancient forests. Islands’ Spirit Rising: Reclaiming the Forests on Haida Gwaii focuses on Haida’s early resistance to modern contexts of legal battles. Haida Gwaii is culturally and ecologically unique, has the largest subspecies of black bears, and is said to have been inhabited as early as 13 000 years ago. Panelists note these and many other important concerns Haida Gwaii is dealing with today. The panel will be followed by a book viewing and signing.
