UVic Capture the Flag perfect place to release inner Ninjas
Ninjas appeared on campus Sunday night, Nov. 1. Or rather, members of UVic’s Capture the Flag club.
The group gathers monthly to play Capture the Flag, for fun. Last weekend saw a turnout of about 70 people ready to take sides for a flag — down from the higher turnout in September. The breakdown is simple. The group is divided roughly into two teams, with one group receiving white armbands and one without.
The boundaries are Ring Road, with the halfline set up at the road which runs across the UVic campus from the library through the MacLaurin building.
Both stealth and speed are in high demand, and last weekend was no exception. Some players claimed they saw the opposing side walk right by them in the shadows. Other times, people sprinted madly across the centre field, holding the blinking light of a flag, and being hotly pursued by half a dozen of their opponents.
Five games were played on Sunday, with a final score of 3-2 for those without armbands. Those interested in the club should check their facebook page, UVic Capture The Flag, for the dates of the next game and the complete rules.
