Naughty over nice

Having rough sex is awesome because it’s the closest you can get to the feeling of looking at porn for the first time. It feels deliciously forbidden and manages to reinvigorate a feeling of naughtiness.

Let’s be serious here, folks: sex, in general, is great. In my experience, if you’re doing it with the right people, sex is the one of the few things that seems to be consistently awesome — if you switch it up, that is. And really, why wouldn’t you? It’s not like anybody ever started out with the missionary position and happily stuck with it.

That being said, sometimes throwing in some reverse cowgirl just isn’t enough. Sometimes you want a little extra oomph, a proverbial Sriracha sauce added to your sexual feast. I know what you’re thinking: you’ve been through the top 50 positions, and you’ve been left wanting more. The helicopter just isn’t doing it for you anymore, and you feel lost, like a vegan at Outback Steakhouse.

If you’re picking up what I’m putting down, rough sex could be for you.

Now, let’s not get confused. When I say “rough sex,” I don’t mean anything even remotely close to non-consensual sex.  I’m talking safe sex between consenting adults who aren’t in the mood to make love. I’m talking about fucking. Mashing your privates together, all for the purpose of pleasure.

Although sometimes all you want is some cuddly, smooch-heavy, old-fashioned, look-into-each-other’s-eyes-type lovemaking, sometimes you want the exact opposite. Everybody’s into different things, but as I always say, you’ll never know if you don’t try. Keep in mind that rough sex isn’t for everyone; it’s important to have a partner who is as open to the idea as you are. But trust me — if you’ve thought about it, you’re probably going to like it.

Rough sex is essentially an introduction to power play. There’s going to be a dominant participant and a submissive, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is where the fun lies.  The great thing about this dynamic is that it provides an opportunity to get swept up into taking on a role that may be very outside your character.

Let me put it this way: there’s a reason for the sexy librarian archetype. It’s because the idea of a quiet-nerdy type being transformed by unbridled sexuality is hot as hell. As is the high-powered CEO taking orders. Frankly, sometimes it feels good to not be yourself.

So, if you’re so inclined, try it. Start with a little hair-pulling and a few spanks and maybe, in a couple weeks, you’ll find yourself happily tied to the bedposts.

After all, even your grandmother can agree that it’s good to try new things.
