It’s Friday night and I have a mission. I also have beer. Somewhere out there, in the deepest depths of Victoria, sharks are lying in wait for unsuspecting prey.

Canada’s national soccer team out of qualifier for FIFA 2006

Being a Canadian soccer fan is painful. With last Wednesday’s 3–1 defeat to Costa Rica, the national men’s team failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup. This comes as no surprise, as it is ranked 95th in the world. In fact, the only time Canada qualified for the men’s World Cup was in 1986 and ended up losing all three matches in the tournament.

 

Men’s rugby swamped

Despite a good showing by the Vikes, the James Bay men’s rugby squad walked away from MacDonald Field on Saturday with a clear victory. Final score: 48–9. Mark Tewksbury.

 

UVic men triumph

There was a mystery at Centennial Stadium this past Saturday as the Vikes men’s soccer team matched up against the UBC Thunderbirds.
