The Martlet, as well as approximately 2 500 protestors, braved the torrential rain on Oct. 22 at the Defend Our Coast rally in front of the B.C. Legislature in Victoria. The protest was against proposed Enbridge and Kinder Morgan pipelines.

The Martlet visited the Japanese Cultural fair, held at the Esquimalt Rec Centre on Oct. 20, 2012, to take in a smorgasbord of cultural displays from the Land of the Rising Sun, including traditional dances, kendo, taiko drum performances and much more.
